The making of prints seems to hold a special magic for me; even though a plate or block is designed and manipulated to produce a picture, the event is still a surprise. Although Japanese woodblock is my main driving passion, I also work in a variety of other relief media, and have recently gotten involved with the new photopolymer intaglio techniques. My interest in all aspects of Japanese culture predominates the themes of my prints, and I also work with imagery from the Pacific Northwest. My favorite printmakers are Sekino, Hokusai, Hiroshige, Kirchner, Picasso and Munch.
