Here are some photos of shows and events that I have participated in; I hope you enjoy looking them over. (Click on the title to view photos of the event.)

Mendocino Art Center 2008
Show in October 2008 at the Mendocino Art Center in California. Look for advertising of "The Works" in the main gallery. This will be a one person show. Also, a slide show about the Tokaido will be given October 10th and an opening reception on October 11th. This show closes November 5, 2008.

Japanese Gardens 2001
This three day event at the Japanese Gardens in Portland, Oregon, began with an early morning benefit "Tokaido" walk through Washington Park at the Gardens pavilion for a catered breakfast in view of Portland and Mount Hood. An exhibit of my work in the pavilion extended through the weekend and included 23 framed prints, display racks of matted prints, a continuous slide-show of the Tokaido, a Japanese video on the woodblock process, and demonstrations by myself on designing, carving, and printing in the Japanese woodblock tradition. As an added benefit to the Gardens, corporations and private individuals could acquire a limited edition print of "Red Pajamas over Fuji" by donating to the Gardens or by direct purchase at a discounted price from the Japanese Garden Society of Oregon. This special opportunity is still available for a limited time; if you are interested contact Wendy Mitchell at (503) 220-0822.

WoodWorks 2001
Works from the Coos Art Museum's permanent collection will highlight an exhibit that offers the viewer an opportunity to consider the impact of forests, trees and wood upon artists and their works. Located in downtown Coos Bay, Oregon, the exhibit runs from Nov.2, 2001 through Jan. 19, 2002. Nearly 50 works of art, including paintings, prints, and three-dimensional works are on display.

In correlation with the WoodWorks show, my work is featured in the Mabel Hansen Gallery of the Museum, comprising a selective retrospective of thirty Japanese woodblock prints and woodcuts, from 25 years of print production. Also on display in glass cases are sample blocks, tools, materials and other information associated with the making of Eastern and Western wood block prints. An exhibit of the printing sequence of my Tokaido print "Sakanoshita- Keeper of the Shrine" visually demonstrates the Japanese woodblock multicolor method.

The closing weekend of the show I will offer a workshop in Japanese woodblock printmaking, accompanied by a free public lecture at the Museum on Friday evening, Jan. 18, "Bicycling in the Footsteps of Hiroshige: Japan's Tokaido".
